Speech Synthesis
Text-to-Speech is also called Speech Synthesis. It is the computer generated voice by human pronunciations simulation.  For telephony applications, especially for regular telephone that does not have text capability, speech synthesis converts text to voice and then played over the phone.
Synthesizer
The two characteristics used to describe the quality of of a speech synthesis system are naturalness and intelligibility. The naturalness of a speech synthesizer refers to how much the output sounds like the speech of a real person. The intelligibility of a speech synthesizer refers to how easily the output can be understood. The ideal speech synthesizer is both natural and intelligible, and each of the different synthesis technologies try to maximize both of these characteristics.

Voicent Text-to-Speech (TTS) Plug-in converts text messages into voice messages through telephone calls. It supports any SAPI based TTS voice including English (American accent or European accent), Spanish, Italian, Chinese, German, Greek, Japanese, and many more. It comes very handy when you do not want to record your own voice. With TTS, it reduces the burden of recording voice messages that is impossible to record, such as names, addresses, birthday, account balances and due dates when the call list is long. TTS voice can be combined with your pre-recorded message using Message Designer in Voicent software to create personalized phone messages.

Voicent TTS Plug-in is cost effective. It enables a single port voice engine to function as a server voice engine for multiple voice simultaneously. It uses the global telephone standard audio format as PCM 8KHz, 16 Bit, Mono.

To covert the text into a specific language, you need a TTS voice engine to connect to Voicent TTS Plug-in.. Please note that TTS Plug-In does not include any TTS voice. Microsoft Windows Operating systems contain free TTS voices. Windows Vista contains a TTS voice Microsoft Anna. Windows XP contains TTS voices as Microsoft Mary and Microsoft Sam. To find out if your TTS works with Voicent software, all you need to do is to download Voicent software and try it with your TTS. It is very easy to setup TTS voice in Voicent software. To select the voice, click on Voicent Gateway, select Setup -> Options -> Text-to-Speech, then choose the voice you want.
