Transfer license to another machine
Voicent License key is tied to a specific computer. Per our license agreement, you cannot move this license key to another computer. You have to click “I Agree” to the license agreement in order to install our software. This is to prevent software piracy. Your purchase of the software product license entitles you to run the software on one specific computer.
Voicent License key uses your computer network card (ethernet card) to identifiy your computer. Every network card has a unique physical address or ID (MAC address). Part of the gateway ID has the network card information encoded, and this information is guaranteed to be unique.
If you move the original network card to another machine, then you can move the software to the new machine. If you physically move the network card to another machine, you have disabled the license key for the original machine. After you install the software and network card to the new machine, simple request a new license from your program (Help > Request Product License… from the main menu). Our license server will check our license database and if it sees the same network card info, it will issue you a new license.
Some computer motherboards have built-in network card. As a result, you cannot move Voicent software to another machine.
If you do want to move the software among different machines, you should have your license tie to a moveable network card. You can purchase a separate network card, for example, USB network card, for less then 10 dollars these days. Please remember you must do so before we issue you any license. Please see the end of this artile for the steps to request a license that is specifically tied to a moveable network card.
If your network card or motherboard no longer works (very rare), we will issue you a new license for a different computer only if:
1). Your purchase is with one year, AND
2). You have shipped us the mother board or network card for verification. (We will not ship you back the network card or motherboard), AND
3). You use a moveable network card for your new computer
For purchases that are over one year, and your network card or motherboard no longer works, no new license key will be issued.
Request a license that is specifically tied a USB network card
Please follow the following instructions to request for your license.
For release 6.0.2 or later:
Just request your license as usual. Select Help > Request Product license… from your program main menu. Then in the license page, select the Gateway ID that is associated with your choice of the network card.
For release 5.0.2 or later:
1). From your program (BroadcastByPhone, AutoReminder, etc), select Help > Report Problems… from the main menu. In the comment box, please indicate which network card you want your license key to be based on. Click the OK button to send us the log file and your comment. Your license will be send to the email address you provided.
For earlier releases:
1). Invoke Windows Command Window (or Windows > Run… > type in “cmd.exe”)
2). From the command window, please type in the following command:
ipconfig /ALL > info.txt
The info.txt file will be generated. It contains information about all the network cards on your computer.
3). Send email to license@voicent.com, and attach the info.txt file. Please indicate which network card you want to use for the license key.
