Voice Modem

Voice modems are regular modems that are capable of playing audio over telephone lines. These modems, such as Voicent 3025 voice modem, are used for telephony applications.

Some voice modems rely on computer sound card to play the audio. These modems are usually poor choices for telephony applications. Better voice modems have onboard DSP to play audio directly.

Traditional modems are data/fax modems. They cannot be used in telephony applications.
